A Triple Tragedy

It is with tremendous sadness I share news of the sudden deaths of three individuals who have been a huge part of this film.

Michael Introductions at MT7

Michael Green, the producer of Making Treaty 7, encouraged me to pursue this documentary in the first place and supported me, connected me with the stories of Treaty 7. Without him, this film could never have been incubated. He was a visionary man who saw great creative and artistic possibilities.

Narcisse - At Red Crow

Narcisse Blood was my elder, mentor and friend. He had a unique blend of the modern and the traditional. In one moment he would dispense deep wells of wisdom, and in another he would be giddy with excitement over my new camera equipment. This was an elder who was fiercely passionate about justice but with a heart for everyone.

Lacy Smiling

And finally Lacy with whom I had the pleasure of travelling with during our summer roadtrip. She too spoke with a fierce heart and represented a strong woman.

These three set an exemplary example for us. I think one way to honour them is to take the torch (torches) they lit and carry a bit further for the benefit of future generations. They will be missed by friends, family and the wider community. May they rest in peace and live on in our hearts and minds.
